Eels survives Hurricanes comeback, wins 4-2

Florida Eels came close to giving away a three-goal lead to Space Coast Hurricanes, but did just enough to escape with a 4-2 victory.

Florida Eels led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Florida Eels' Arnaldo Osuna's scored at 1:37 in the third period to put Florida Eels up 3-0.

 

Florida Eels was paced on offense by Fredrik Wink and Tom Doverhjelm, who combined for six points. Wink racked up two goals and one assist and Doverhjelm also notched one goal and two assists.

Florida Eels made Space Coast Hurricanes' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 49 shots and forcing 45 saves. Jeremy Laux made 39 stops and Parker Bonis made six. Florida Eels found itself short handed often, totaling 18 penalty minutes and allowing 10 power plays.

Florida Eels also got points from Doverhjelm, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Florida Eels received assists from Hunter Fernandez, Daniel Filler, and Alexander Sanchez, who each chipped in one.

Space Coast Hurricanes put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Florida Eels to score on any of its five power plays. Space Coast Hurricanes' offense rang up 38 shots on Florida Eels' net.

Space Coast Hurricanes was helped by Griffin Rogers, who registered two goals. Rogers scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:38 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Florida Eels. Space Coast Hurricanes earned a power play opportunity when Kenan Ural was put in the box for hit after whistle. Jack Musil provided the assist. Rogers' next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Florida Eels with 5:38 left in the third period. Space Coast Hurricanes had taken the advantage when Florida Eels' Wink got sent off for checking from behind. Jonah Bolton assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Space Coast Hurricanes were Jamie Chilcott, who had two.

Florida Eels' Fernandez stopped 36 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Space Coast Hurricanes incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
